"Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites."

Article directories - Article directories allow you submit an article you have written. The bottom of the article should include a link to your website. The article is published on the article directory, which gains you a backlink. If other webmasters use your article on their website, you get another backlink. Blog or website comments - Many blog and website pages have a comments section. You can often leave a website or web page URL in the comment.
